Vitamin E (Tocopherol)
Vitamin E is a group of 8 compounds that include 4 tocopherols and 4 tocotrienols. Both the tocopherols and tocotrienols occur in α (alpha), β (beta), γ (gamma) and δ (delta) forms.
As fat-soluble anti-oxidants, tocopherols interrupt the propagation of reactive oxygen species (chemically reactive chemical species containing oxygen like peroxides) that spread through biological membranes or through fat when its lipid content undergoes oxidation by reacting with lipid radicals.
