Can I use Castile soap on my baby?
- Yes. Castile soap is a very mild soap that won't dry or harm your baby's skin. Since it's made with Organically Grown Extra Virgin Olive Oil, it's free of harmful chemicals.
Can I wash my hair with Castile soap?
- Absolutely. Castile soap was used as an all purpose soap ever since its inception 1400 years ago. It's commonly used as a body soap, but works very well as a hand soap, shampoo and it's wonderful as a facial soap.
I heard olive oil is wonderful for the body but shouldn't be used on the face because it clogs pore, is this true?
No. Olive oil is one of the safest and widely used oils. It's been used in Europe, Egypt, Greece, Syria and Iraq, among other countries, for thousands of years. It's been used as a trading commodity, currency, as an unguent for the body and hair, to prepare food, and even as a lamp oil. As an unguent or modernly called body oil, it not only softens and protects the skin, it also aids in balancing the natural ph of the skin. When applied to the body it doesn't clog the pores or causes any other problems, so there is no reason to believe it would clog the pores of the face only.
Other Castile Soaps have burned and irritated my skin, will this soap do that too?
Chances are you were in the presence of fake castile soaps made with high amounts of coconut oil, palm or other oils, and not like castile should be made, with only Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Our TRUE Castile Soap is gentle and soft on the skin, non-comedogenic and won't irritate or dry your skin.
What should I do if in eyes?
Like with any other soap or shampoo, immediately flush with plenty of fresh water. Soaps and shampoos, even this one, are mildly irritant to the eyes. It would burn and sting, if just a little drop falls inside the eye, and probably would get red, but it's just temporary and should go away in no time.
Can Liquid Castile Soap be used to clean or do laundry with?
Although you could, why would you? BVO's True Castile Soap is an expensive high end soap made with the best imported USDA Certified Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Because of its soft nature, although one could argue castile soap has been used for centuries to clean or do laundry with, the soap intended for that use back in the day, was the castile soap made with the leftover oil from cooking and frying, not the pure extra virgin olive oil extracted by pressing fresh olives. BVO's True Castile soap is a mild, soft soap intended to be used on the skin and hair, but not quite suitable for laundry or cleaning. Perhaps a pure 100% coconut oil soap would be more suitable for this task, as this soap due to its strength isn't suitable to be in direct contact with the skin.
Is this Liquid Castile Soap safe for people with Celiac Disease?
Yes. #BVO Liquid Castile Soap is safe for people with Celiac Disease. Celiac (Coeliac) Disease is a genetic condition that refers to intolerance by individuals with this genetic disease to consuming (eating) products that contain gluten or that have been in contact with gluten (cross-contamination), not by external exposure (applying lotions, using soaps or shampoos) that contain ingredients with gluten. The only three foods that contain gluten are Wheat, Barley and Rye. For more information please read Celiac (Coeliac) Disease & Skin Care Products.
#BVOrg Liquid Castille Soap does not contain any gluten-derived ingredients.
I suffer from Celiac Disease and cannot use products with alcohol distilled from gluten derived ingredients, can you make one without it?
BVO Liquid Castile Soap is safe for people with Celiac Disease. Although we do use Ethanol derived from Sugarcane (Cane Alcohol) and Corn (Grain Alcohol) neither of these contain gluten. Corn and sugarcane are naturally gluten-free foods. Even if cross-contamination has occured as it happens in the case of corn, distilled alcohols do not contain not even trace amounts of gluten in the final product (alcohol). Although alcohol can be irritating and drying to the skin or hair when used in large quantities, used as part of a preservation system is not. At BVO we use a small amount of Organic Alcohol alongside with other naturally derived preservatives on water products to prevent mold and bacteria to spoil the product. For that reason we cannot and will not formulate a water based product without the proper preservatives.
