Il Bakuchiol (Sytenol® A), il vero ingrediente monomolecolare dell'unico produttore Sytheon, è un ingrediente oleoso dorato/marrone, appiccicoso e denso. I prodotti formulati con questo ingrediente non sono mai bianchi, viola o rosa.

Poiché il Bakuchiol è un ingrediente idrofobico (idrorepellente) ed è un ingrediente solubile in olio, è impossibile formulare un siero completamente a base d'acqua senza l'uso di un solubilizzante o emulsionante. Nel caso in cui venga utilizzato un emulsionante, il prodotto risulterà in un latte, una lozione o una crema, a seconda della formulazione.
